Board of Directors Taps Bob Newcomb to Lead Gulfport, Florida, September 15, 2011
President Lori Rosso announced that the Gulfport Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors has selected Robert Newcomb as its Executive Director. Newcomb will begin his duties immediately. 
While the Board will retain full oversight, Newcomb will be responsible for the day to day operations of the Chamber, the development of new programs, expansion of the volunteer staff and the growth of business and professional membership.
Newcomb brings an extensive background in Chamber of Commerce management, having over ten years experience, most recently for the Chamber in Worcester Massachusetts. Newcomb is a graduate of Boston University with graduate coursework did Dartmouth College and University of Delaware. “Mr. Newcomb's experience in chamber work and community affairs will help us on the Board of Directors to take the Chamber to a new level.” said Rosso. “Bob will undoubtedly engage local businesses and help increase our membership.” noted Rosso.
In addition to appointing Newcomb as Executive Director, the Gulfport Chamber is announcing a membership drive and exploring the potential of expanding its reach into surrounding communities.

Gulfport promotes the creations of local artists twice monthly, on the first Friday and third Saturday of each month.

This Art Walk is an all-year-round event and features several bands performing up and down the street with artists showing their wares in front of all the unique stores that stay open extra hours to greet the many visitors for these events. |

The Casino Ballroom features ballroom dancing every Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday and swing dancing on Wednesday. It also serves as host to many special events and is a wonderful waterfront venue for private affairs such as weddings.

Our beachfront is very family friendly with a playground, white sandy beach and live entertainment five days a week in the pavilion. There are walking paths all along the waterfront with bench swings to watch for dolphins.

Gulfport provides many entertainment options to its residents and visitors. If shopping, dining and dancing is not enough, then the Catherine Hickman Theater might be the ticket. The theater regularly hosts concerts and professional theater productions for all ages.
